The 2nd All India Veterinary Conference held at Luknow from 19th to 21st of March 1924 decided to start a professional journal.

The first issue of the Indian Veterinary Journal ( IVJ ) was released in August 1924 from Madras. Dr P Srinivasa Rao was the first Editor. The seventy five year old IVJ is published monthly and housed in its own building at Chennai. Subscription Rates: Rs.300/- Per annum to Governments and Public Institutions. Rs.150/- Per annum to members of the Profession. Rs.100/- Per annum to Students of Veterinary College and Retired members of the Profession. U.S $ 60-00 Per annum to foreign subscription by surface mail. By air mail $45-00 to be added. Rs.1500/- for life subscription by members of the Profession. Rs.1000/- for life subscription by retired members of the Profession.
