Kerala Veterinary Association was the professional body of veterinarians of Kerala till the formation of Indian Veterinary Association in 1978. The veterinarians from all walks of the profession joined the new outfit. IVA Kerala has accepted the new constitution on par with the central body and was registered under Charitable Societies Act (Reg.No.271/79). The Association is controlled by an Executive Committee. Each revenue district has its own unit and the members are enrolled at the district level. Objectives The objectives of the Association are the improvement of the professional knowledge and competence of its members, the efforts to uphold and safeguard the dignity, honour, rights and interests of the profession and most importantly to create a spirit of brotherhood among its members. Since its inception, the IVA Kerala involved in a series of projects and programmes that benefited its members as well as the farmers and public. Rabies eradication was one of the major programmes implemented by IVA through its members. It could successfully convert many local bodies as rabies controlled areas. Continuing Veterinary Education programme started in 1995 was well accepted by the members. Other programmes include sessions on Information Technology, Individual Development, Leadership Development and Talent Festivals for members and their families.
